A royal hunting ground and historical place for entertainment, the ecological landscape of the Nanhaizi area in Daxing district of the southern part of Beijing is undergoing extensive repairs.

The district, in order to explore its unique regional historical and cultural connotations and with a view to its functional orientation, is focusing on major cultural projects and further construction of public facilities.

A number of historical sites such as Tuanhe Palace, Deshou Temple and Kunlun Stone have been protected and repaired since 2013.

At present, the main repair work of Tuanhe Palace and Deshou Temple has been basically completed, and Nanhongmen Palace, Liangyingtai, Kunlun Stone and Ningyou Temple have been properly protected.

According to the staff of Daxing district culture and tourism bureau, the repair work of Deshou Temple was carried out in an orderly manner and the site will open to the public next year.

Daxing district also plans to systematically organize historical documents to dig deeper into the cultural value of the Nanhaizi area. It plans to build a palace culture exposition park by utilizing the historical and cultural resources of Tuanhe Palace and present the achievements of the project to protect non-movable relics.

By showing the cultural relics, historical documents and intangible cultural heritages, the district will make the Tuanhe Palace a new and important window for displaying excellent Chinese history and culture.

The Daxing section of the Yongding River is 55.2 kilometers long. Its surrounding areas embrace rich historical relics and non-legacy cultures. Today it is an important route for travel and sightseeing.

Next year, the waters of the Yongding River will be restored in their entirety. The district will make full use of its rich cultural relics to build an ecological and cultural experience park with exhibitions, sightseeing tours and entertainments.
