"Charming Beijing" tourism promotion event kicked off on Tuesday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and was attended by officials from both China and Rio de Janeiro.
Speaking in his addressing at the event, Du Feijin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Beijing Municipal Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, said “as a sister city of Rio de Janeiro, Beijing has been attaching great importance to exchanges and cooperation with Rio de Janeiro over the years.”
He said this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC), Beijing will hold World Leisure Congress in 2020 and the Winter Olympic Games in 2022, offering a great opportunity for the world to experience culture and tourism of Beijing. He also welcomed Brazilian people to visit Beijing.
At the event, Beijing’s culture and tourism were exhibited in different parts such as imperial culture, modern fashion, foods and the Olympic Games. Beijing Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau also promoted Beijing’s 144-hour transit visa-free policy, tax refund and the convenient transport and public facilities. Three Brazilian travelers shared their travel or study experiences in Beijing.
During the promotion event, visitors can also enjoy the Beijing tourism photo exhibition, see Chinese calligraphy and learn to draw a mask of Peking opera.
