'Charming Beijing' Tourism Promotion Event Held in Tokyo

"Charming Beijing", a tourism promotion event, kicked off in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, on June 7, as a significant part of a series of activities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of sister-city relations between Beijing and Tokyo.

Over 200 guests attended the event including delegation from Beijing, representatives of Tokyo tourism industry and Chinese and Japanese reporters.

Mr. Chen Dong, the official of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, said at the event, the friendly relations between the two cities has been 40 years. Japan has been the second source country for inbound tourists to China for several years. In first quarter of 2019, Beijing received 74 thousands tourists, an increase of 5.9% year-on-year. He hoped the event would deepen the ties between two cities. He also invited more Japanese friends to enjoy unique charm of Beijing while make the friendship between citizens became stronger.

The event presented Beijing tourism resources and traditional Chinese operas. Honndou Aki, a Japanese travel amateur shared her experience on tour to Beijing and introduced rich Beijing tourism resources vividly.  Kunqu Opera artist Wei Chunrong performed The Peony Pavilion on the event and artists from Beijing traditional orchestra played classic Chinese and Japanese tracks.

Meanwhile, the three-day "Beijing Week" was held from June 7 to 9. The exhibition area of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism attracted numerous visitors through rich and varied activities.
