As its name suggests, the cafe was built in 1901 and was used to be a subsidiary building of Xishiku Church. 1901 Cafe, though situated in an old district, is filled with a strong classic European-style quality. Inside the cafe, it is spacious and bright. Such loosely arranged layout is really hard to come by in this part of the city where rents tend to be soaring. 

One may be surprised when getting to the second floor via the wooden staircase. With large tables and sofas, and a tall bookcase, when the sun goes down, it feels like we are literally living in the Baroque period. The third floor looks like a loft where the space is limited.

In addition to the gorgeous appearance of the building itself, the surrounding time-honored structures in the old district also have a special pleasing quality. 

Mocha and matcha in this store, and such simple snacks as beef pizza and spaghetti noodles are delicious. But the most popular is its opera cake which diffuses full aroma of chocolate.
