elevator

电梯

(diàntī)

A: When I got home yesterday night, I discovered that our elevator was broken. The maintenance people were working on it all night and it was still broken this morning.

B: That's unlucky. So how did you go upstairs?

(tài dǎoméi le ba, nà nǐ zěnme shànɡlóu ā?)

A: Luckily, I live on the sixth floor. It wasn't too tiring to take the stairs.

(xìnɡkuī wǒ zhùzài liùlóu, zǒu lóutī yě bùhuì hěnlèi.)

B: I can't imagine what it was like for those living higher. If the elevator isn't fixed, they are going to have to keep taking the stairs.
