Yongding Gate: Highlight of Central Axis

Yongding Gate sits on the south ending of Central Axis of Beijing boasting long history. It was first built in 1553, the Ming dynasty and then rebuilt in 1766, the Qing dynasty. Yongding Gate is the main entrance of Beijing's outer city. The tower of Yongding Gate is the most spectacular one among the seven gates of Beijing city. It enjoyed largest scale for its tallest city wall, complicated building and prime location. Yongding Gate, corresponding Zhengyang Gate of inner city, is located on the south side of central axis which stretches north linking Qianmen, Tian'anmen, Wumen, Shenwumen, Di'anmen, Bell and Drum Towers and Anding Gate.
