Shichahai Ice Rink

Shichahai Skating Rink enjoys prime location and long history. It has been reputed as well-known entertainment venue in winter since the Ming Dynasty. Skating was approved as a national custom during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. Shichahai boasts water area of about 340,000sqm. The area of skating rink reaches up to 320,000sqm, with actual operating area covering 210,000sqm. With years of standard management experiences in over 10 ice sport facilities, it has become an outdoor rink featuring the largest skating area, the most complete facilities, the highest safety factor and the highest recognition from the mass. Every year, this attraction receives hundreds of thousands of guests, including nearby residents, office workers, tourists, skaters and students.

Kunming Lake Ice Rink

You will be pleasantly surprised by the Summer Palace in winter. The West Causeway is covered by reeds, pine and cypress reflect back the palace, deep blue ice is frozen on the lake, and an ink and wash-like scenery is made of the deadwood of willow and the thither pavilion.

The Summer Palace opens Ice rinks, equipped with bicycle on ice, electric ice wagon and other facilities, in Kunming Lake and Suzhou Street, which are the indispensable entertainment for Beijingers in winter.

Golden lights will penetrate through the Seventeen-Arch Bridge on Kunming Lake at sunset, and if we head south to the West Causeway, there are fewer tourists. Dark yellow withered grass, interlaced branches and the lake-surface with scattered ice make different winter scenery of serenity.

Occasionally, some visitors take a walk with dogs, and naughty boys kick the ice block picked from the lake.

Yuyuantan Ice Rink

With a total planned area of 132.07 hectares and water area of 57.93 hectares, Yuyuantan Park is a comprehensive park in Beijing, and a national 4A scenic area. The park boasts a long history, vast landmass, abundant water, and picturesque sceneries. Yuyuantan Park is famous for its spring cherry blossoms and annual winter festivals. In this winter, the park has marked out an icy area for visitors to enjoy winter activities. The classic snow tubing greeted visitors after upgraded. This item also served reservation for groups on weekdays.

This year, the park firstly opened a new area themed Old Beijing where all kinds of activities popular among Beijingers like rolling loop, kicking shuttlecock, spinning top etc. It will be an ideal option if visitors want to experience old Beijing culture.

Beihai Park Ice Rink

As Beijing embraces the coldest days in winter, major outdoor ice rinks has opened for public including Shichahai Ice Rink, Beihai Park Ice Rink, and the Summer Palace Ice Rink.

Beihai Park Ice Rink, one of the six major ice rinks of Beijing, covers 20,000 square meters this year, which is two times than it last year. It has also adopted series measures to ensure the safety.

The ice layer will be inspected around the ice rink, ensuring that the thickness of the ice layer will reach 15 cm or more per day. Meanwhile, the number of safety inspectors per day is guaranteed to be around 20 or 30.

This year, the rink has set 4 areas including ice-car mixing area, skate area, bumper car area and drift car area among which the drift car area is a newly opened area this year.

The Ice Rink of Beihai Park opens 9:00 – 17:00 daily. The ticket costs 80 yuan covering all area.
