Among the many winter sports, skating happens to be the most traditional and popular. There are many well-known skating parks and indoor rinks that are fully equipped, some even provide sleds, sleighs or electric bumper cars and boats for visitors to relax and enjoy with their families.
Shichahai Skating Rink
Shichahai Skating Rink enjoys prime location and long history. It has been the imperial “ice play” place since the Ming Dynasty. Skating was approved as a national custom during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. So long as the lake surface is frozen, the Eight Banner youths will hold ice-skating competition and various “ice play” performance for the Empress Dowager Cixi.
Shichahai Skating Rink was approved by Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to host soccer competition, and has been incorporated in publicity campaign of bidding for 2022 Winter Olympic Games under approval. The area of skating rink reaches up to 320,000sqm, with actual operating area covering 210,000sqm. Every year, this attraction receives hundreds of thousands of guests, including nearby residents, office workers, tourists, skaters and students.

Summer Palace Skating Rink
The frozen Kunming Lake at the Summer Palace is a natural skating rink in the winter and covers about 700,000 square meters. It is divided into two areas: an ice entertainment area and a skating area. In the entertainment area, there are 10 ice-related entertainment activities, including ice cars and bicycles. There is also an ice slide which is six meters high and 42 meters long.
Surrounded by hills and historical architecture, the spot has attracted many families and foreign visitors. Standing on the Kunming Lake, with broad vision, you can look around of Wanshou Mountain, Foxiang Pavilion, Seventeen-Arch Bridge and West Embankment in 360 degree. The natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value.

Le Cool
Covering a large area with flat surface, Le Cool has enjoyed wide popularity in ice skating for many years since its opening in 1999. The ice rink is situated in the second floor underground of China World Mall, and covers a total business area of 1,450 square meters, among which 800 square meters are ice surface.
As the only training center for figure skating appointed by Beijing Ice Skating Association, Le Cool successfully hosts Beijing Figure Skating Competition and ISIA Figure Skating Competition every year. In addition, during the open days all the year round, Le Cool, by introducing the eco-friendly freezing system from Canadian Ice Machine Co. Ltd. (CIMCO), provides ice skating lovers the world-class ice surface for their recreation.
