LIU Ju
LIU Ju is now Permanent Conductor of National Ballet of China and National-level Grade-A Conductor.
Born in a family of artists, LIU Ju learned music since childhood. In 1991, he began to study conducting under the tutelage of XU Xin, Professor of the Central Conservatory of Music. He was admitted to Music Conducting Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 1992 under the tutelage of renowned conductors and educators, i.e., Professor HUANG Xiaotong and Professor ZHANG Guoyong. And he also studied choral conducting under the guidance of Professor MA Geshun. During this period, he often cooperated with Youth Symphony Orchestra of Shanghai Conservatory of Music and many domestic symphony orchestras in the concerts. In the early 1997, he successfully cooperated with National Ballet of China and conducted Chinese ballet drama Red Detachment of Women at Poly Theatre in Beijing. After graduating in July 1997, he joined in National Ballet of China and has served as Permanent Conductor of National Ballet of China Orchestra since then. He successively conducts Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Giselle, Raise the Red Lantern, Coppelia, Lachrymal Spring, Fairy, Pirates and other many Chinese and foreign classical ballet repertoire. He has also visited the UK, France, the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and other countries and regions.
In addition, he has joined hands with China National Opera House Orchestra, China Film Philharmonic, China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai National Orchestra, Taipei Municipal Chinese Classical Orchestra, Taiwan Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and other orchestras to hold concerts and record CDs. In July 2000, he was also invited to visit the US, and held concerts at Lincoln Center. In July 2010, he was invited to conduct large-scale Chinese opera Sister JIANG at NCPA in series of celebration performances for the 60th Anniversary of Art Troupe of the PLA Air Force Political Department.

Founded in 1949, China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra has achieved remarkable results, enjoying outstanding popularity at home and abroad.
Over the past 60-plus years, thanks to the active advocacy and unremitting efforts of Mr. PENG Xiuwen, a world-renowned conductor and composer in China, the orchestra has taken the lead in establishing a basic framework unique to Chinese orchestras, comprising bowed stringed instruments, plucked stringed instruments, wind instruments and percussion instruments. It has contributed significantly to the continuous development and improvement of Chinese traditional orchestras.
The orchestra has carried out rich and colorful art activities and given diversified performances. It boasts a large repertoire when holding the stage. It has played and recorded thousands of works for films, TV and radio programmes, tapes and CDs. Numerous artists have been cultivated by the orchestra, including many world-famous conductors, composers and performers.
As a well-known art brand of Chinese music and a symbol of Chinese culture, the orchestra has visited more than 70 countries and regions, making unremitting efforts to promote cultural exchanges and friendship with other countries and present Chinese culture and art to the world with amazing results.
