Speaking of aquariums in Beijing, the Beijing Aquarium must be one ranking first in terms of comprehensive functions and the number of tourists. It is an iconic aquarium located in Beijing Zoo. As a large-scale, modern, and advanced marine biology science museum, it has occupied a leading position both at home and abroad in such aspects as the overall construction area, floor space, and the total water volume. Enjoying a world-class life-support system that uses artificial seawater, Beijing Aquarium has a large amount of seawater with a total volume of 18,000 tons.
It adopts a new display concept to lead viewers understand the ocean by means of dive. There are seven theme display areas, including the Rainforest Adventure, the Touchable Beach, the Undersea Wonders, the Shark Pier, Chinese Sturgeon Hall, Dolphin Whale Bay, and the Oceanic Theater.

Blue Zoo Beijing (Richina Underwater World)
Beijing Gongti Blue Zoo built by China and New Zealand together is the first five-star ocean arium in Beijing. It has Asia’s longest acrylic underwater tunnel and is currently one of the largest artificial “underwater world” in China! Shouldering the responsibilities of “education, entertainment, and environmental protection”, it shows the magical and wondrous underwater world through high technology. The winding and transparent underwater moving tunnel brings visitors more than 20,000 marine creatures of various shapes and sizes in a close distance. They can also see the experienced divers playing with fierce sharks, and small hippocampus shuttling through colorful corals.
A thrilling performance would be staged on time every day. Over 20 giant sharks with a body length of more than 2 meters gather around the diver to eat food from the diver’s hands. It is truly a feast of visual that the diver can be calm and unscathed to feed these sharks. At the same time, a romantic mermaid dance is performed every day, bringing you into the dreamy underwater kingdom.

Taipingyang Underwater World Exhibition
This underwater world is an ideal destination for younger babies as they are free for visiting. To save money and avoid the long queues, it’s best to buy tickets online. Here, visitors can enjoy various small animals that are not found in other aquariums and all kinds of exciting water shows.
Located under the China Central Radio and Television Tower in Beijing, Taipingyang Underwater World Exhibition is a comprehensive modern large-scale exhibition hall which mainly displays marine organisms and integrates science education, sightseeing and recreation. Its 80 m-long underwater tunnel is the main viewing area which adopts a closed acrylic transparent tunnel design from 90 degrees to 270 degrees. Standing on the automatic walkway, tourists may feel they are rambling on the sea floor while enjoying the rich-colored coral reefs, rare sea fishes wandering around, and the fascinating landscape of marine flora and fauna.
The small pond area is alive with precious tropical freshwater fish and colorful coral fish. In the Penguin House, the adorable penguin “Kelly” from Peru lives happily with their family. The 270-degree undersea transparent tunnel plashes visitors on the bottom of the sea. And the most exiting performance divers swimming with sharks will be performed twice a day. Two cute harbor seals in Seal Pool will put on an interesting show for visitors. If you want to have an intimated contact with the sea creatures, there is a Touching Pool for you. In addition, the dynamic underwater-based 3D movie will bring you into a fantastic world, and the ocean science classroom would regularly hold ocean science lectures. You can check your favorite marine life for free in the computer room, as well as swim with the big sharks under the sea.
