Built in 1921, Jingyuan Garden (Garden of Peace), located at No.70 Anshan Street, is the former residence (1929-1931) of the Last Emperor Pu Yi and his queen Wan Rong and Shu concubine Wen Xiu. It is the only physical evidence to prove that Puyi used to live in Tianjin. The architecture, which mainly shows the folk house elements of Spain, also combines features of Chinese and Japanese wood structures. Main building is right in the front yard while the back yard is occupied by a small two-storey building in double loaded corridor type. A square dragon-shaped fountain and a typical Japanese style drawing room are equipped between the two yards.
The name of "Jing" shows the true intention of Pu Yi at that time: waiting for the right time to stage a comeback. After Pu Yi left Tianjin, Jingyuan Garden had changed hands for several times until it was open to the public as a tourist attraction in July, 2007.
