After the Olympic Games, the National Convention Center was transformed into a large-scale public building which incorporates conference rooms, exhibition halls, catering, office buildings and hotels. The design of the main part of the National Convention Center incorporates the elements of “eave” and “arch bridge” in traditional Chinese architecture. Seen from the front, the roof of the building is slightly upturned on the four corners, resembling the traditional Chinese eave; beneath the roof is an upward arch, resembling the traditional Chinese arch bridge. This design is not only for aesthetic purposes, but for recycling of rainwater.
