Jiaodaokou South Street of Dongcheng District borders the easternmost Ju’er Hutong. At Ju’er Hutong, compounds No. 3, 5 and 7 have been the residence of Ronglu, Governor of Zhili and Grand Secretariat of the Qing Dynasty. In the middle of the hutong, there is a newly reconstructed courtyard with white walls and black tiles, featuring both the glamor of traditional residential houses along the Yangtza River and the charm of Beijing courtyard.
Nanluogu Alley connects the western most Ju'er Hutong. The south-north alley has a total length of around 800 meters, with 8 hutongs respectively orderly flanking on the east and west.
In recent years, more and more fashion shops show up on Nanluogu Alley. Let’s ride a bike to explore its trials and tribulations of the past and bustling of the present.
