Yudaokou Grassland & Forest Scenic Area is located in the Bashang area of the Mulan Hunting Ground, Chengde City, Hebei Province. It is a sub-district of the Outlying Temples of Chengde Summer Resort, a national scenic spot with a total area of more than 1,000 square kilometers and an altitude from 1,230 meters to 1,820 meters. It enjoys a continental monsoon plateau climate of the cold temperate zone with an average annual temperature of 5°C. The eastern and northern parts of the scenic area are connected to the Saihanba National Forest Park, the west is bordered by Duolun County of the Inner Mongolia, and the south is adjacent to Yudaokou Township of Weichang County.

Yudaokou Grassland & Forest Scenic Area is extremely rich in tourism resources. The natural landscapes such as Fairy Cave, Taoshan Lake, Moon Lake, Baihuapo, Grand Canyon and Gui Mountain are breathtakingly wonderful; and the cultural landscapes including Green Tea House, Cuihua Palace, Yuquan, Aobao Hill, Drill Ground, Ancient Royal Road, Yadai Mountain and Tianti Liang contain profound royal cultural connotations.

With distinctive seasons, it is a sea of green grass and colorful flowers in spring and summer; a harvest season of fruits in autumn and a snowy world in winter. Especially in summer, visitors are attracted to the Qianli Grassland by its cool temperature and fresh air. They may find themselves in a picturesque paradise of blue sky, white clouds, green mountains, clear waters, green trees, red flowers, where well-fed cattle and horses are scattered here and there. The eagle is flying in the upper blue sky while the fish is rambling and playing in the waters. Coupled with the hospitable herdsmen, the unique snacks of the Bashang area, you may find yourself in a paradise, speaking highly of this place where rivers originate, as it is the home of clouds, flowers, forests and rare animals.

Although the Yudaokou Grassland & Forest Scenic Area is located in the Bashang area, it is in the middle of the golden tourism route: “Beijing–Chengde–Mulan Hunting Ground–Saihanba National Forest Park–Yudaokou Scenic Area–Fengning–Beijing”. The demands of tourists can be fully satisfied due to its convenient transportation and strong accommodation capability. It is only 400 kilometers away from Beijing and 237 kilometers away from Chengde. And the “Yuke” secondary road leads directly to the scenic spot. Besides, its infrastructure such as electric power and communication are complete. Admission: a joint ticket for the Saihanba National Forest Park, the Yudaokou Scenic Area and the Hongsongwa Nature Reserve. You can only buy one ticket to visit these three attractions at the cost of 150 yuan per person.
