Beijing boasts lot of parks in urban area where was planted with numerous lotus. 

▶ Shichahai

Shichahai Lake is pretty cool and refreshing even in hot summer. More importantly, it is interspersed with adorable lotus flowers. You can take a sightseeing boat in a sunny day to relax yourself in the amazing lake views, or have a stroll along the bustling street at dusk to take a glimpse of the mystery and elegance of lotus especially in the bright neon lights.

Shichahai is the only open scenic spot with a wide expanse of water in central Beijing. It is also the largest historical block with the best-preserved landscapes.

▶ Zizhuyuan Park (Purple Bamboo Park)

Zizhuyuan Park has enjoyed a good reputation for the noble lotus for a long time. Here you can row a boat in the lake and track the ripple generated as you paddle bamboo pole across the water surface, savoring the charm unique to water town. Hailed as the water parent-child amusement park, this park offers nearly 190 boats including various pedal-powered boats and electric boats such as panda boat, boat modeled by vintage car, warship modeled by Humvee, sand boat and pavilion-shaped boat. Meandering along the willow bank or enjoying entertainment in water, you can bask in the happy and harmonious moment with your beloved children.

▶ Yuyuantan Park (Jade Deep Lake Park)

Yuyuantan Park boasts two optimum scenic areas for viewing lotuses: Wanping Hexiang (10,000m2-Lotus Pond) in the southwest corner of West Lake, and Cherry Blossom Lake within the Cherry Blossom Garden. Looking toward the West Lake from road of Cherry Blossom Lake, you can view luxuriant lotus leaves interspersed with graceful lotus flowers. Many tourists are immersing themselves in taking the most satisfactory photos of lotus flowers along the lake. In addition, a wealth of sweet flag is planted along the lakeside, which enriches the natural landscape, beautifies the environment, improves water quality and retards the eutrophication process. Lotuses of Cherry Blossom Lake were planted in 2008, where the “1,000m2-lotus landscape”, dominated by red lotus, sacred lotus, dancing concubine lotus and other species, has been shaped. Notably, sacred lotus features multi-petals and thick fragrance while the edge of petal of dancing concubine lotus appears red.

▶ Lotus Pond Park (Lianhuachi Park)

Lotus Pond Park has witnessed the development of this city. This park embraces three lotus areas, which are respectively themed by Baiyangdian red lotus in the north, space lotus in the west and small white water lily in the east. Tourists can appreciate variety of lotus flowers in rich shapes and colors here.

Covering an area of 53.6 ha., this park was rebuilt in the 1980s, where tourists can enjoy pristine natural landscapes.

The scene of “bowl lotus bursting into bloom in the rain” forebodes the coming of lotus flowers appreciation. On the occasion, wild red lotuses and small white water lilies are in full bloom, which embellish the 20,000m2-water area. More than 4,000 potted plants like lotus, grey club-rush, water willow and other aquatic plants are also exhibited. A variety of lotuses ushers in their early flowering period in mid-June and full-blossom period from July to early August. The prime time for appreciating lotus flowers ranges from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. More interesting, cloudy or drizzle day will add a tinge of elegance to the beautiful scenery. It usually bursts into bloom from 7:00 to 12:00 in the morning as small white water lily doesn’t prefer high temperature and direct solar radiation.

▶ Beijing Botanical Garden

Beijing Botanical Garden is the kingdom of plants. The most eye-catching in summer, however, is the adorable lotus flowers, which come into blossom from July to August. Tourists can appreciate more than 5,000 lotuses totaling over 200 species in South Lake, Central Lake, Tropical Conservatory and newly-built lotus exhibition area. In the hot summer, lotus flowers stand gracefully erect on the rippling bluish waves, forming a picturesque scenery peculiar to this season.

Key recommendation: tourists can enjoy a sea of water lilies in North Lake, Penjing Garden and other scenic areas besides lotus flowers. Meanwhile, there are Crape Myrtle Garden nearby Tourist Center, Hosta Garden and rose mallow on both sides of the road to appreciate. It is an ideal destination for flower lovers in summer.
