“The Veggie Table” is the first vegetarian and environment-friendly western restaurant in Beijing. Laura, the chef of the restaurant, used to travel around the world, exploring the vegetarian culture of different parts of the world and creating many vegetarian cuisines bearing her own mark. Although there is no meat, egg, milk or meat-flavored imitation meat dishes, every dish is made from fresh and healthy food materials with great care.
These dishes are light in taste and free of burdens, and give customers a sense of satisfaction. Even some meat-lovers fell in love with this place. For those who shun parivyaya (five pungent spices), there are also abundant choices. Some dishes on the menu are marked “can be made Buddhist food”. You can also ask the waiter or waitress to tell the kitchen to cook your food separately.
On every Monday, there is “Meat Free Monday” activity. On Wednesday, this place provides afternoon tea and irregularly organizes movie screening, lectures and parties. In addition to making friends, customers make their contributions to environment protection by dining here.
