Imperial Fangshan Restaurant in Beihai Park

Fangshan Restaurant, located inside the Beihai Park, is a time-honored imperial restaurant founded in 1925. The restaurant’s decorating style features the theme of dragon and phoenix, and the china and silverware used as the tableware imitate the style from the imperial palace of the Qing Dynasty and are marked with four Chinese characters, Wan Shou Wu Jiang (万寿无疆). 

Dishes of Fangshan Restaurant are all exquisite in shape and color. They inherit the features of royal cuisine in the Qing Dynasty—clean, fresh, crisp and tender. Its specialties include stir-fried pork fillet, stir-fried sliced fish, stir-fried pork kidney pieces and stir-fried prawns; fried hazelnut

sauce, fried minced meat pea sauce, fried stir-fried cucumber sauce, fried carrot sauce; crisp chicken, crisp fish, crisp meat and crisp seaweed; tofu, braised Chinese cabbage with chestnuts. Presently, the cooking skills of Fangshan Restaurant have been listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.
