After walking into the building, you will view the Wang Zhihe Historical and Cultural Corridor. One day in 1669, Wang Zhihe pickled the unsold bean curd and invented the fermented bean curd by accident. Since then, Wang started to sell the stinky bean curd and opened the mill named “Wang Zhihe South Sauce Garden” in 1678. This food became popular and was even introduced into the Forbidden City as a daily dish for Empress Dowager Cixi, who called it qingfang (green cube). This museum embraces a traditional processing zone, where models of stone mill, knives, jars, cloth bags among other utensils used for making tofu in Wang Zhihe South Sauce Garden are displayed, to reproduce the scenes of all processes including soy-bean milk boiling, brine adding and soy-bean milk filtering. In addition, the interactive zone here is well welcomed by children.
