The Rose Museum is situated in Weishanzhuang Town of Daxing District in Beijing. With hollow rose patterns on its building, the museum is divided into eight halls with different themes such as history, science, culture, and the world. It uses technologies like human motion capture, holographic animation, and virtual interaction to mobilize the audience’s sense of sight, auditory, touch, and smell, thus transferring rose-related knowledge, figures and scenes.

As the first museum themed by Chinese rose in the world, it was designed by John van de Water and Jiang Xiaofei from NEXT Architects. Following the design concept of traditional Chinese silk decorated with rose patterns, they created a rose-like silky architectural surface through architectural methods. The hollow metal surface allows the room a strong sense of light and shadow, enabling the half-open transition space to be used for exhibitions. The interior space, which is divided into barrier-free accessible spaces, echoes with the internal atrium, creating a natural and commodious exhibition area.
