Black Bamboo Park

Black Bamboo Park is located near the Baishi Bridge. It was first built in 1953, with sophisticated bamboo gardens reminiscent of the bamboo sea in south Sichuan, and the prairie of Tu’er Mountains. Nanchang River and Shuangzi Ditch wind through the park and create a layout composed on three lakes, two islands, one embankment and one ditch. It is a landscaping garden with sequestered bamboo grove and highlights the beauty of bamboos.

National Library of China

National Library of China is located on No.33 Zhongguancun South Street. The twin-tower main building has peacock blue encaustic-tile double-eave roofs and walls covered with light milky grey tiles. The library consists of the South Area, the North Area and the Ancient Books Library with a collection of over 31.19 million items including over 2 million ancient books. In 2008 the National Library of China covers 0.28 million square meters. It is the largest library in Asia, and the third largest national library in the world.

China Millennium Monument

The China Millennium Monument sits on the extension road of West Chang’an Avenue. It was built to celebrate the coming of the new millennium and now acts as the premises of the Beijing World Art Museum. It is the first non-profit national cultural institution to collect, exhibit and research the world art. The Millennium Hall is decorated with a circle of relief mural called “Ode to the Millennium History of China” chronicling the history of Chinese civilization.
