Puning Temple

Commonly known as Great Buddha Temple,the Puning Temple is well known because it contains the largest wooden Buddhist statue in the world. First constructed in 1755,the 20th year of the Qianlong reign,the Puning Temple covers an area of 33000 square meters. With a well-contributed layout,the Puning Temple is divided into the front and rear parts with the Grand Hall as the boundary.The front part is composed of seven halls in a Buddhist temple,and the rear prat is a mandala in the style of Tibetan monastery.The statue of Goddess of Mercy with 1,000 eyes and 1,000 arms is enshrined in the Dacheng Pavilion,the main building in the Puning Temple.
