A year after Russia's Alexandrov Ensemble, or Red Army Choir, canceled its 2016 performance in China due to a deadly air crash, the 89-year-old choir announced on Monday that it is set to return to the country in January of 2018.
Scheduled to debut at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, the ensemble will put on a four-night show from January 4 to 7.
Additionally, the choir will perform one additional show on the afternoon of January 6.
According to the show's organizers, the added performance was arranged "since the other shows sold out in a very short time and Chinese fans asked for more."
The choir will perform 24 songs that were once very popular across China, especially during the 1950s, including "The Sacred War," "Moscow Nights" and "Kalinka"as well as with dances and instrumental performances from the troupe's members.
On December 25, 2016, 64 members of the choir were killed in a plane crash as they traveled from Sochi, Russia, to Syria to perform at the Latakia airbase.
