Located 18km to the east of urban area of Pinggu District, Jinhaihu Lake Scenic Area covers a water area of 6.5 km2. Surrounded by mountains in three sides, this scenic area is clothed in green hills and slopes in the summer and decorated with red leaves in the autumn. With gorgeous mountains and pretty waters, Jinhaihu Lake Scenic Area is of rarity for enjoying fantastic red leaves. Red leaves appreciation area there is home to cotinus coggygrias, acer truncatums and rhus typhina.

Reason for recommendation: varieties of red leaves are dancing on the stage of lake surface, celebrating a feast for the eyes.

Bus route: take Bus 918 at Dongzhimen to Pinggu; or take Bus 918 to the urban area of Pinggu District, and transfer to No. 9 Sightseeing Bus to Jinhaihu Lake; during the official holidays, take special tourism lines at Dongdaqiao (bus terminal of Bus 28, Bus 109 and Bus 350) at 8: 00 am, to Jinhaihu Lake, Jingdong Grand Canyon, Jingdong Great Stalactite Cave and other attractions, return at 3: 30pm.

Self-drive route: drive on the Beijing-Chengde Expressway at Wanghe Bridge and drive off at Shayu, then drive on Huosha Road and turn right at the Kuliushu Roundabout to transfer to Shunping Road (Shunyi - Pinggu) about 85km to the attraction. Follow road signs along the way, with driving time from one hour and half to two hours.
