Dajue Temple is definitely no less than its kind for the famous “ginkgo king” just in front of the hall of Buddha of Immeasurable Life. With a length of over 30 meters and a perimeter of 7.8 meters, this gingko tree, planted during Liao Dynasty (in 1068), boasts a history of nearly one thousand years. In old days, the ancient praised it as the “oldest ginkgo” in Beijing. So, it wins its name as “ginkgo king”. Furthermore, it is also hailed as the “crown of ginkgo in Western Hills”. This towering “Ginkgo king” enshrouds the whole yard in shady cool, creating an imposing spectacle. Apart from its ginkgo, it also abounds in charming red leaves scenery. Verdant pine trees, fiery red leaves and golden yellow ginkgo bask in each other’s color radiance.

Self-guided Routes: Turn left at the underbridge at the Beianhe Village exit of Badaling Expressway, drive westward along the road till its end according to signposts and arrive at Dajue Temple.
