Guixiangcun is famous for its Five-colored Cloud Cake, including sesame (black), rose (red), white sugar (white), mint (green), and fresh meat (yellow). The main feature of the Cloud Cake is the crust made of Japonica powder. Such cakes, with well-balanced looseness and softness, are more palatable than those made frompermeable Japonica powder. The loose and soft cakes are easy to melt in the mouth, thus popular among people of all ages.
Such features cannot be found in offerings of other famous pastry shops in Suzhou. Meanwhile, Cloud Cake features exquisite shapes, vivid colors, thick base, rich stuff, and thin skin. In particular, the skin is as thin as a layer of cicada shell, where patterns of flowers, animals, and plants are pressed, together with the logo of Guixiangcun.
