Dajue Temple

Dajue Temple, also called the Temple of Enlightenment, is nestled at the foot of Yangtai Hill in Beijing's western suburbs. The temple is best known for its magnolia trees, planted almost 300 years ago. There are many flowers and trees in the courtyards, the finest being the magnolias.

Ditan Park

The Temple of the Earth (also referred to as the Ditan Park) in Beijing, is located in the northern part of central Beijing, around the Andingmen area and just outside of Beijing's second ring road. It was built in 1530 during the Ming dynasty. Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasty dynasties would attend the annual summer solstice ritual of offerings to the heaven. At 42.7 hectares, it is the second largest of the four Temples of Beijing behind only the Temple of Heaven.

Diaoyutai State Guesthouse

If you don’t like the city’s scorching summer, autumn, a golden season for leaf watching, is the best time to visit Beijing. Ginkgo trees on a road near Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Xicheng District is covered under a stunning golden carpet at this time. The Fragrant Hills in the city’s western suburbs is famous for its scarlet maple leaves. Prepare for the crowds during the peak season.

Xiangshan Park

Xiangshan Park, also known as Forest Park, is located on the eastern sides of the Western Hills, approximately 10 kilometers to the west of Beijing.

Due to its high elevation and dense cover of trees, spring arrives late in the area and summer days are always pleasantly cool. The best time to visit the park is late fall, when maple leaves turn red.

Baihua Mountain

Boasting the third highest peak on the outskirts of Beijing, Baihuashan Mountain is a pleasant, cool retreat with winding creeks and dense vegetation that make the temperature here on average 10°c lower than downtown Beijing.

Baiwangshan Park

Three kilometers northwest of Summer Palace, Baiwangshan Park offers itself as an ideal place to savor the taste of autumn. The mountains are covered with thick forest and shrubs.

Beijing Botanical Garden

Beijing Botanical Garden is situated in the western outskirts of the city between Xiangshan Park and Yuquan Mountain.
