The Xishan National Forest Park is situated in the Western Hills, in the western suburb of Beijing. It’s the national forest park closest to downtown Beijing (only 20km). Streams flow down through the mountains, with green trees scattered everywhere. It’s an amazing place both viewed up close and from a distance.
There are two routes perfect for red leaves in late autumn: the Red Leaf Ridge route from Banshanting Pavilion to Guixiaoshi Stone and the Red Leaf Canyon route from Meiyuan to Guixiaoshi Stone. Whether you choose to walk in the woods or climb the mountains, your trip will be rewarded with picturesque views.
