Enjoy Autumn at Baiwang Mountain

2017-08-22

Besides the prestigious Fragrant Hills, there are many places to enjoy the fall colors in Beijing. Baiwang Mountain is one of them. Covered with thick forests and shrubs, it does not attract as many visitors as Fragrant Hills but visitors here can enjoy a relatively quiet and comfortable trip.

Baiwang Mountain is the closest forest park to Beijing and is only 3 kilometers far from the Summer Palace. The mountain is known as "Wang'er Mountain" among old Beijing locals.

It has many places for scenery appreciation, such as the building for overlooking Beijing, the Maple-Leave Picking Pavilion, the Lanfeng Pavilion and the Friendship Pavilion. The best place to see red leaves is the Friendship Pavilion, which has a wider view of the woods. The path has small ramps where visitors can have a slow walk while getting a close look at the red leaves.

Another place is Lanfeng Pavilion on the top of the mountain. It has the best view of both red leaves and green pine trees. Visitors can see the most beautiful sunset in Beijing at the top of the mountain. Two hours are enough to complete the mountain trip. After you get to the top, it is better to choose a different way to descend, so as to enjoy some different views.
