Founded in 1807, Huguang Guild Hall is renowned for one of the "Four Great Opera Theatres" in Beijing. It is located inside a beautiful old theatre building, adjacent to an old hutong and quarters filled with old Beijing culture. It was established for Hunan and Hubei people in Beijing for contact and was mainly used for living or gathering. It also served as the place where authoritative officials and average persons had fun together, dining, chatting and watching Beijing Opera. With a history of over 200 years, this theatre has hosted performances by some of the greatest Peking Opera actors and continues to set the current trends in Chinese Opera.

The entire complex covers a large area, and the main buildings of the hall include Grand Opera House, Wenchang Pavilion, Baoshan Hall and Fengyuhuairen (Miss Somebody in the Wind and Rain) Chamber. The theatre is renowned for its magnificent interiors, which is colored in red, green and gold, and decked out with tables and a stone floor. The Huguang Guild Hall also contains a small museum which exhibits the theatre's rich history of Beijing opera.

The splendid opera house offers a chance for domestic and overseas tourists to enjoy an oriental classic theater of original taste. Here you can experience the authentic Peking Opera, performed by some of the most skillful performers. With a lifetime of training, these renowned for actors time and time again amaze audiences with their unbelievable skills.
