About

This drama expresses dreams and wishes of the stay-at-home children through the voice of Dashunzi. And the five dreams in the play, with the creation of the director, stage designer and lighting designer, have become the illusionary and poetic spiritual wonderland of those children.

Synopsis

There is a village boy named Dashunzi, whose father has gone to other places to work. He keeps on thinking about his father and has fabricated the song to sing aloud. Finally, he goes to town to look for his father after constantly begging for his grandmother’s consent. In the process of looking for his father, he has experienced a lot and gradually becomes mature...

CAI Jinping is Chinese first-class actor and director.

Her main works include Children’s drama HUA Mulan, Long-haired Girl, New York Boy; dramas Merchant of Venice, 11 Roses, etc.

She has directed many works, including Children’s drama Happy Hans, Ugly Princess, Golden Mermaid, The boy and Stray Dog, Rainbow, etc.

OUYANG Yibing Playwright

OUYANG Yibing is Chinese first-class screenwriter, playwright and critic. He is the former president of China Children's Art Theatre, the recipient of the special allowance of the State Council, a member of the China Writers Association, the former Vice President of Research Institute of Chinese Drama, and former Standing Vice President of China Animation Association.

20 of his stage plays (including drama, children’s play, opera and musical) have been staged by 12 theatres across the country. And 10 of the plays have won various awards of playwright at state or provincial level.

His representative plays include drama ZHOU Enlai; children’s play Shinning Stars, Joy of Hardships, Red Dragonfly; musical Shangri-La and opera Flower Guardian and so on. In addition, he has created large-scale TV series States of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty-Spring and Autumn (co-authored with two others), 52-episode large-scale animation Adventure of Little Carp (OUYANG as the chief screenwriter, produced and released by CCTV) etc.

HU Zongqi Director

HU Zongqi is a member of China Theatre Association and a member of Director Art Committee of China Theatre Association. He has been a winner of Wehua Award for directors and excellent director of China Theatre Festival for many times. His works include dramas Ballad of Ocher Land, Life’s Altitude, Wumeng Mountain, The First Bridge Under Heaven; musical drama Peach Flower Ballad; Peking Opera General SHI Lang, Longjiang Opera Xian’er; operas My Heart Flies, Struggles in an Ancient City, and Woman of the Mists and so on. His recent dramas Life Is Like a Song, The Rain Flower Terrace and White Deer Plain have won been well-embraced in the industry.

HUANG Kaifu Stage Designer/Multimedia Designer

HUANG Kaifu is a Chinese first-class stage designer and a teacher of Stage Design Department in the Central Academy of Drama.

He is audacious and innovative in creation. In nearly two decades, he has created a series of elegant, concise and expressive stage works.

SONG Runjie is a youth stage designer graduating from the Central Academy of Drama. Her co-designed works include drama White Deer Plain, Life Is Like a Song, The Rain Flower Terrace, FAN Changjiang, Old Stock, Life Under the Sunlight; opera Woman of the Mists; Peking Opera North of the Great Wall; Pingju Opera Trilogy of Oresteia; Yueju Good Soul of South Yangtze, KOU Liulan and DU Liniang, and so on.

HU Huaqing is a Chinese first-class stage designer of Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre, member of China Institute of Stage Design, member of Shanghai Theatre Association. WANG Liying graduated from ESMOD international and has served as a costume and character designer or costume executive producer for scores of plays at home and abroad.

Her main works include opera Turandot for Opera House of Florence, Italy (costume producer); dance drama Butterfly Lovers, Peking Opera Dongpo Feast; musical Equator Rain; dance drama Consort of Fragrance; Peking Opera Marquis Yi of ZENG; drama Great Empire 1900; modern Peking Opera Life Show; puppet show Journey to the West, Luju Opera Legend of the Spring Town; drama The First Bridge Under Heaven; Peking Opera North of the Great Wall; opera Woman of the Mists, drama Life Under the Sunlight, Pingju Opera Trilogy of Oresteia, drama Teapot Is for Drinking Tea, Life Is Like a Song, The Rain Flower Terrace, and White Deer Plain (as designer for costumes and characters).

SHI Yicen Composer

SHI Yicen is a young composer. He was admitted to the Department of Composing of Central Conservatory of Music at the age of 16, and received MBA in Tsinghua University in 2016. He has composed many works in recent years. His works involve symphony, musical, dance drama, acrobatic play, film and TV plays, chamber music, Chinese folk music and other genres. His works have been played for state leaders in and outside the country, such as China, the US, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Poland.

His representative works include Jinling Scriptures Carving, No.11 Minsheng Lane, Dream Journey, Revelation, Sea Battle 1942, Looking Up and so on, all of which have been widely recognised.

ZHAO Ji Choreographer

Graduating from Shanghai Dance Academy, ZHAO Ji is a famous Chinese choreographer. He has served as director in such works as Wild Snow and I Have A Date with Spring, and as the choreographer in works like Happy Dance. He has also served as the movement director in dramas SHANG Yang, Listen to the Wind and Yue Opera Dream of the Red Mansion.

SHI Lei Make-up Designer

SHI Lei is Chinese second-class stage designer and a MFA holder for character design in Shanghai Theatre Academy. Over ten years in his career, he has served as the costume and character designer for scores of plays, including children’s play, Peking Opera, Pingju opera and others. He also worked in ZHANG Yimou’s Bird’s Nest version of musical Turandot in Taiwan region, as well as the character design for the opening and closing ceremonies of Expo 2010 and other major events.

His main designing works include children’s play Titanic, Malan Flower, Golden Mermaid, Ugly Princess, The Act, Martyrs, Transformers, Cool, The Legend of Silkboy, Candy Lover Tiger, Green Loving Rabbit, SIMA Guang, HUA Mulan and so on.

Children’s Art Theatre of China Welfare Institute

Founded by the honorary chairwoman SOONG Ching-ling on April 10th, 1947, the Children’s Art Theatre of China Welfare Institute is the first professional educational children art troupe of public welfare in China. Over the past 70 years, the theatre has produced more than 390 children's plays with different themes. Classic plays include The Magic Aster (Ma Lan Hua/ Malan Flower), A Young Football Team, Childlike Innocence, White Horse Feifei, Joy of Hardships, Brilliant Sunlight, Joy of Growth, Rainbow, etc.

The Theatre has been active throughout the country, organizing and participating extracurricular children drama activities in communities, schools, and rural areas. The Theatre has also been invited to the United States, Russia, Japan, Germany, Australia, South Korea, etc. In addition, it has held nine sessions of Shanghai International Children’s Theatre Festival, attracting children drama troupes from more than 20 countries and regions..

The Theatre has three children's theatres at present, which are Shanghai Children's Art Theatre, Malan Flower Theatre and V Theatre. The Theatre offers the stage for excellent children plays at home and abroad, and has become an important arena for the visual art experience of children in Shanghai and even the whole country, as well as an important platform for international children's cultural exchange.
