Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Nanjing

The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, commonly known as Shigu Road Cathedral to the locals, now is the only Romanesque architecture in the city. It has served as the office of the Catholicism Patriotic Committee of Nanjing and Jiangsu Provinces since 1978. The church follows the form of an old European abbey and is a typical catholic church. It has been listed as one of the protected cultural heritage of Jiangsu Province.

Sacred Heart Cathedral in Guangzhou

Sacred Heart Cathedral is a Gothic Revival Roman Catholic cathedral in downtown Guangzhou. After 25 years of construction, it is now the largest cathedral in Guangzhou. As one of the four churches in the world to be entirely built of granite, including all the walls, pillars, and towers (the other three are Notre Dame de Paris, Westminster Abbey and Cologne Cathedral), it is also called the ‘Stone Cathedral’. The cathedral is 35 meters wide, 78.69 meters long and 58.5 meters high. It is in the gothic architectural style and some say it is as good as the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. At present, many believers and tourists from all over the world come to visit Sacred Heart Cathedral.

St. Ignatius Cathedral in Shanghai

St. Ignatius Cathedral, also known as the Xujiahui Cathedral, is located at Puxi Street of Xuhu District in Shanghai. It is the largest Catholic Church in the city and China's first western style church. With red walls, white stone columns and slate roofs, as well as the two cloud-kissing bell towers that face each other, it has become an important building in Shanghai. Every morning, it gathers a considerable mass, and every Sunday or important Catholic festivals, it is full of parishioners. As the church can hold 3,000 people, it has also been named the Vatican in Shanghai.
