Beijing Imperial Garden-the Summer Palace
The Summer Palace is located at the northwest of Beijing where the scenery is beautiful and the landscape is quiet, with the former name of Qingyi Yuan. It was first constructed in 1750 as the last feudal prosperity of China- “The Golden Age of Three Emperors” period. It was razed to the ground by the Anglo-French Allied Forces in the Second Opium War in 1860.
The Summer Palace is an outstanding expression of the creative art of Chinese landscape garden design, incorporating traditional art of gardening; with the surrounding landscape environment, it is full of the magnificent momentum of Chinese imperial gardens while also full of natural interest, which highly embodies the garden design principle of “although being man-made, seems like a natural gift”.
Zhoukoudian Site Museum
Zhoukoudian Site Museum is the national AAAA scenic spot, the national key cultural relics protection units, and the national 100 patriotic education demonstration base. It is located at Zhoukoudian Town, Fangshan District, and is about 48km to the urban district of Beijing. It is the world famous ancient human and ancient vertebrate archaeological sites and the birthplace of the “Peking Man”.
Zhoukoudian Site Museum was rebuilt on the basis of the ape-man exhibition hall in 1953 with the area of 1000 square meters and more than 600 culture relics, which are mainly the achievements of archaeological finds of the site. The “Peking Man” site (also known as the first site or ape-man cave) is one of the most famous ones.
