Synopsis

The story takes place during the Land Revolution Period of China (1927-1937). WU Qionghua, a poor girl living in Hainan Island, is seized as a slave by the creditor and local bully NAN Batian at Yelin village. Her parents are driven to death for not affording to pay the debts. Qionghua has tried to flee away many times, yet only to be caught in the end. Facing the brutal persecution, she would rather die than surrender. Finally, she manages to escape from the hell-like place. With the help of HONG Changqing, the representative of the Detachment of Women, Qionghua joins the Detachment of Women of Red Army.

In order to defeat NAN Batian and break up his civil corps, HONG Changqing disguises as a Chinese businessman living abroad and joins NAN's corps. After several treacherous battles, he finally wins NAN's trust. However, Qionghua, in the guise of HONG's maid, is so eager to revenge that she ruins HONG’s plan. After being severely criticized by HONG and the commander, Qionghua admits her mistake and promises to make it up later.With the support of the Nationalist Party, NAN Batian sieges the Red Army base, resulting in the sacrifice of HONG Changqing. In the end, the Red Army liberates Yelin village, and Qionghua kills NAN Batian in person.
