Located in the foothills of the Yangtai Mountains is the Buddhist Dajue temple. It has been continuously restored over the years, the original temple dating back to the Liao dynasty (907-1125 AD). Not only is this site ancient but it is also very beautiful. If like me you travel in the autumn you will be enticed by pathways of yellow leafed trees that shelter you as you make your way towards the temple. Autumn time attracts many tourists, who are mesmerized by the temples and enchanted by the trees. Be sure to see the 1000 year old Gingko tree which is located in the courtyard between the Amitabha and Mahavira Halls.
The Dajue Temple has two accompanying temples, the Lotus Temple and the Temple of Universal Grace. Be sure to see all three temples as they are well worth a visit. When you enter the main temple you will discover the Maitreya Hall, the main hall, the rear hall, the northern and southern courtyards and, at the rear of the complex, a peaceful courtyard. At the rear of the courtyard flows a mountain spring and a stupa which stands at its highest point.
If you haven’t already been charmed enough for one day be sure to have tea at the Minghui tea house. It rounds off the whole day perfectly and will make your trip extremely memorable.
