Ancient Bell Museum of The Great Bell Temple is located in the renowned Great Bell Temple in Beijing. Great Bell Temple, also named Temple of Awakening or Juesheng Temple, was built in the 11th year of the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty (1733), occupied an area of 30,000 square meters. It was an vital site where emperors used to pray for rain and hold Buddhist activities. It houses the largest bell of Yongle Period, hence it is also known as the Great Bell Temple.
First opened in October 1985, great bell temple is devoted to collecting and studying of culture, cultural relics, literatures and historical materials of ancient bells, organizing exhibitions of anicent bells, promoting Chinese ancient bell culture. Many tourists from home and abroad are attracted to this beautiful temple's environment by its unique exhibitions and interesting activities.
