Hidden in Lumicang Hutong, Zhihua Temple has a history more than 500 years. Quiet but sacred, the temple has many legendary stories.
One day in the 7th year of Qianlong Period of the Qing dynasty, when officials came the Lumicang Hutong to get their “Lumi” - one kind of salary in the Qing dynasty, one official named Shen Tingfang came here on that day, too. One temple attracted him and he got really angry after he entered the temple.

The next day, the emperor received a memorial to the throne which says that there is a statue of Wang Zhen, an eunuch who had brought calamity to his country and people of the Ming dynasty, in the Zhihua Temple. Why should people commemorate such a man! Then the emperor ordered that remove everything that related to Wang Zhen from the temple and the “Bao En” tablet should be destroyed.
Now the temple becomes a museum to collect books of Buddhism.
