The Ancestral Temple of Wen Tianxiang is located in No.63 of Fuxue Hutong in Dongcheng District. It was built in memory of Wen Tianxiang, a hero in South Song Dynasty who fought bravely against the enemies of Yuan Empire. Based on the place where Wen Tianxiang was imprisoned, the temple has preserved the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty. It was opened to the public in 1984.
Covering an area of 600 square meters, facing south, the ancestral temple consists of a main gate, a corridor and a hall. Facing the gate there is stone tablet of Wen Tianxiang. On the west side of the tablet are persimmon tree and clove tree planted by the later generations. The hall perserved the historical materials of Wen Tianxiang. In the middle is the half-length portrait of Wen. Behind the hall is the Xiangtang Pavilion, where sacrifices were carried out.
The exhibition of Wen Tianxiang makes a detailed introduction to his major heroic deeds, such as studying when young, being an officer when in his prime, gathering the soldiers to fight against the invasion of Yuan Empire, being captured and killed by the enemies etc.
