Jinshanling Great Wall is located in Luanping County, Hebei province, which neighbors Miyun district of Beijing and is about 130 km away from Beijing. This section was reconstructed and repaired during the period when Qi Jiguang (1567---1586, a renowned patriotic general successfully defeating the pirates from Japan during the Ming dynasty) served as the top military governor of Ji Town, and is one of the finest sections of the Great Wall. It is the paradise for photographers.

Jinshanling begins from Gubeikou in the west and ends at the towering Wangjinglou (望京楼) in the east, stretching as long as 10.5 km. Along this part, visitors can see 5 passes, 67 watchtowers, and 3 beacons. It rises to fame because of its broad view, dense watchtowers, stunning views, artistic buildings and perfect military defense system.

The latitude of Jinshanling is 700 meters. Standing on top of of it to view the mountain ranges below, you will have the feeling that the mountain ranges are like billowing waves, galloping to and fro. The Simtatai Reservoir to the east resembles a dustless mirror, and the Miyun Reservoir to the south shines gracefully because of its swells. The exquisitely designed watchtowers vary in shape and can beat up those on the Shanhaiguan, Badaling and Jiayuguan Great Wall sections.

Getting there from Beijing:

1. Take Train No. K1189 to Luanping Station (滦平站), get on the bus to Jinshanling, get off at Wangjing West Station (望京西站), and then jump onto the travel bus to Jinshanling.

2. Take Subway Line 13 to Wangjing West (望京西) and get on the bus to Luanping (滦平). Note: This bus begins at 7:00 in the morning and ends service at 4:30 in the afternoon, and there is only one bus every one hour.
