Those who visit Beijing must visit the well-known Chang’an Avenue--the first street in China. It is said it stretches as long as 5 km, where different kinds of vehicles and bikes come and go each and every day. And the capital of China seems to become illuminating because of the prosperous atmosphere. Although it looks so attractive, you may easily miss so many mega buildings on the avenue. But they are really astounding!

1. Tiananmen Tower

Tiananmen is the entrance to the Forbidden City and is located in the middle of Chang’an Avenue. The Tiananmen Tower is one of the mega buildings on the avenue.

2. National Museum of China

The National Museum of China stands east of Tiananmen Square and looks magnificent if you look at it from afar. It is much larger and higher than the Tiananmen Tower and features a flavor that differs from that of the Tiananmen Tower.

3. Great Hall of the People

The Great Hall of the People is located west of Tiananmen Square, just opposite the National Museum of China. The two gigantic buildings are symmetrical and look like guards of Tiananmen.

4. National Grand Theatre

The National Grand Theatre is not only big but also artistic, for it resembles the shape of an egg and is indeed graceful if you walk near to look at it.

5. Edifice of China Unicom

The edifice (probably the headquarters of it) of China Unicom stands on the western part of the first street of China. It is one of the many giants on the street.

6. China Everbright Bank Co., ltd.

This bank’s edifice is much bigger than that of China Unicom. If you walk near it, you may instantly realize that you are so small and it is so huge. The shape of it is beautiful and you cannot turn your eyes away from it if you stand under the building.

7. China Minsheng Bank

China Minsheng Bank and China Everbright Bank Co., ltd. share the same huge building, with one occupying one side and the other occupying the other.

8. Cultural Palace of Nationalities

The Cultural Palace of Nationalities is one of the prominent buildings on the avenue, especially the head tower of it. This is also a symmetrical building, with a high tower in the middle shooting into the sky. It is beautiful indeed.

9. Headquarters of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China

The headquarters of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (or ICBC) is also located on the avenue and its shape is massive and can building so many buildings around it.

10. People's Bank Of China

The People's Bank Of China is the bank of banks of China and is in fact an institute that governs all the banks in China. Where is it? It is located on the western part of the Changan Avenue. It is now not that big compared with so many buildings around it but it is in fact not small at all.

11. China National Arts & Crafts (Group) Corp.

The giant building standing at the west end of Chang’an Avenue is prominent among the buildings surrounding or far away from it. It is worth visiting for crazy shoppers.
