Located in No.19 Fuchengmennei Gongmenkou Eertiao in Xicheng District, the Former Residence of Lu Xun is the house of Luxun where he lived from 1924-1926. Lu Xun (1881—1936), real name Zhou Shuren, is a modern Chinese writer and ideologist. During this time, he produced a large amount of acclaimed works, including the essay collections Hua Gai, Sequel Hua Gai, Grave, Wild Grass, Wandering, published works as A Brief History of Chinese Fiction and Hot Wind, at the same time, he was the editor of weekly magazine as Threads and Wilderness Overgrown with Grass. Lu Xun's former residence is a cultural site under the protection of Beijing government in 1979, and is an important part of the museum.
In May 1924, Lu Xun moved into the No. 21 compound at Fuchengmen's Lane 3; he lived here until he was relocated to Shanghai in August in 1926. In May 1929 and November 1932, he visited his mother from Shanghai and lived in this residence. It was a typical residential compound of old Beijing. Lu named his study, which was also his bedroom, the “Green Woods Study”.
