The Former Residence of Guo Moruo is located at No. 18, West of Qianhai, Xicheng district. It was originally one of the gardens of He Shen during the Qing dynasty and was later converted into a place to feed Prince Gong's horses. During the Republic of China, descendants of Prince Gong sold Prince Gong’s Mansion and garden to Furen University and to Darentang Lejia Pharmacy as their residence. In Oct. 1963, Guo Moruo lived here until he passed away on June 12, 1978.
As you walk into the residence, you will see the gingkos and peonies planted by Mr. Guo and his wife, and the most famous one is the Mother Tree.
