Beijing Capital Museum is located in the western part of Chang’an Street, west of Baiyun Road and at No. 16 of Fuxingmenwai Street. Originally Beijing Confucius Temple was once built here. This is a comprehensive museum in Beijing.

By the end of 2015, the total building area of the museum covers an area of 63,390 square meters. Items usually exhibited are 5,622 and the museum can be divided into 7 floors, with 5 floors above the ground and 2 under the ground.

In 1953, the museum was ready to be built, located at the Confucius Temple on Guozijian Street.

In Oct. 1981, the Capital Museum was officially open to the public.

On May 18, 2006, the new Capital Museum was officially open to the public.

The exterior mainly consists of three parts: square enclosure, oval exterior wall and metal roof. Inside the building there are three independent rooms: square showroom, oval special note showroom and strip-shaped office building. The spaces between the three rooms are the central lobby and indoor bamboo yard.
