Located at Gubei Water Town, Yongshun Dyehouse was set up by Zhang Jukui in 1900. Zhang has learned dye skills in his childhood and he was so clever that he even invent new colorant all by himself. When he grew up, he made a living by opening a dyehouse in his village. Beside the color of blue, he also invented other colorants by local herbs like Carthamus tinctorious, sophora flower and so on. Yongshun Dyehouse became the most popular dyehouse not only in his village but also in the whole Gubiei Town.

After enterting in the Yongshun Dyehouse, the first thing you can see is Clothing-drying field. Colorful clothes are hanging here to dry up after they’re dyed. This is the last step of dyeing of the Yongshun Dyehouse.

Inside of the room, you can gain some knowledge about the traditional way of dyeing in China. And the cauldrons here are the tools to make and store up the colorants. It said that the colorants stored here can maintain longer than stored in any other places.
