Yanshou Temple

Located at the northwest of Beizhuang Village, Yanshou Town, Changping District, Yashou Temple is about 52km from downtown Beijing. It is located between the Ming Tombs and the Mutianyu Great Wall. This temple was built in the Qing dynasty to celebrate the 60th birthday of Empress Dowager Cixi.

Gate of Buddha

The ancient temples are located in the valley which is about 2 km from Heishanzhai Village, Yanhshousi Town. Surrounded by mountains, there is a path to the temple on the green. Entering the gate of the temple, you’ll see a large “Fo” Gate in front of you, about 5 minutes away.

This Chinese character was written by Jia Songyang, a famous calligrapher of China. It is not only a Chinese Character but also a gate which means “the one and only way”. Visitors have to walk through the gate to the temple.

The Dragon Pine Tree and the Phoenix Pine Tree

There are two pine trees in the temple that are as well-known as the temple itself. The Dragon Pine Tree gained its name for it looks like a huge dragon sleep in the temple. There is also a Phoenix Pine Tree on the southeast of the temple which looks like a spread-open wings phoenix.

Transportation: Take Bus No. Chang 32 at North Changping Station and get off at Yanshou Temple Station
