Baiwang Mountain, also called Wang Er Mountain, was named after the two villages Dongbeiwang and Xibeiwang. Covering an area of 200 hectares, Baiwang Mountain is about 200 meters high. Located to the east of the Fragrance Hills and the north to the Summer Palace, this mountain is surround by Jingmi Water Channel.

Baiwangshan is the nearest mountain from downtown Beijing, though it is not as famous as the Fragrance Hills. With a 95% forest coverage rate, this mountain has different views in four seasons.

It is said that once Yang Liulang, a general in the Song dynasty was fighting against invaders on the foot of Baiwang Mountain while his mother was standing on the top pf mountain watching and worrying about him. So this mountain called Wang Er Mountain which means watching one’s son in Chinese.

In 1991, Zhang Youyu wrote “Baiwang Mountain” to this forest park and it means you can see the mountain in 100 miles away.
