Located in Wisdom Valley, Huairou District, Liyuan Bookstore boasts the most beautiful bookstore in Beijing that covers an area of over 170 square meters and was invested by more than 1,600,000 Yuan. The simple main buildings were chic and unique just because of the decoration of firewood sticks. Near the mountain and by the river, there were more than thousands firewood sticks were arranged in a glass curtain wall and formed into fences. A bridge is the only way to get to the store.

Liyuan Bookstore was the work of Li Xiaodong, a Chinese architect. The project was officially initiated in 2011 and started construction from March the same year after two-months of design and planning, and completed in October the same year. The books there are mainly donated by celebrities, and the bookstore is constructed out of 45,000 firewood sticks which are all donated by the local villagers.

Varieties of domestic and foreign books have been donated by visitors and people on their travels. Each one who has the interest in the bookstore could bring three books to it and take away one book, thus the collection of books will be increased. It not only serviced for the local communities but also the surrounding cities and residents. Visitors there can relax while soaking in the sunshine.
