2016 Beijing Design Week was held from September 24 to October 7, 2016 and composed of over 500 themed exhibitions and events, covering various culture creativity venues in Beijing and displaying the innovative achievements of integrative development among culture creativity, design service and correlated industries.

As a living culture museum of Beijing’s traditional courtyards, Chaoyangmen Community is one of the venues of 2016 Beijing Design Week. This year, Chaoyangmen Community continued to uphold the core concept “Design for the People” developed for BJDW 2015. During the design week, the sub-venue showcased the Cultural Fostering Plan of Chaoyangmen Community – Design for the People 2.0, which focused on conservation and renovation of historic streets and districts as well as community fostering.

The activities of urban design, architecture design, landscape design, product design, installation design and public art were launched with four core components, i.e. public design, green environment, community living and cultural heritage, which showcased the interaction between design and people in public spaces and stimulate active public involvement.

During the National Day holiday, residents of Chaoyangmen Community were all impressed by the creativity charm of 2016 Beijing Design Week. The exhibitions at the open courtyards of hutongs showcased the creativity in people’s life and the integration of tradition and modern in creativity design.
