You may think that as far as Scandinavian furniture stores go, IKEA can’t be beat—but you would be very wrong. All the way from Denmark, Hay is putting in a bid to become your favorite supplier of incredibly practical and elegant furniture.

Their first store outside of Copenhagen sells mainly chairs, small sofas, desks, coffee tables, rugs, and cushions, all for slightly high but certainly affordable prices; expect to pay around RMB1,600 for a simple chair and around RMB1,400 for a sleek table. There’s also a small area on the ground floor called Hay Market that sells a wide variety of bits and bobs—everything from stationery to mirrors and hourglasses.
