Weizhuang Village is located in Daxing District, Beijing and is only one river across from Banbidian Village, another famous cultural village in Beijing. However, the styles and airs of the two village differ from one another. Based on their individual specialties, the two villages have developed different styles, one working to promote culture and the other making efforts to highlight martial arts.

Although the two villages are at the frontier of the Chinese rose industry base, they have different characteristics. Banbidian features fairy tales and looks clean and tidy, while Weizhuang Village focuses more on local culture. In the village you can see the world’s largest oil painting, landscape paintings and late Ming Dynasty’s opera towers and buildings of the Hui School.

In a village it may often rain. If you are welcomed by drizzle, you can open your stylish umbrella walking around the Taiji Square of the village. It is really mesmerizing. On the square you can see the paintings of the village’s culture and art. Therefore, it got its nickname Wucun, Martial Arts Village.

If you speak of Weizhuang Village, you cannot avoid mentioning the Tanbo Xingshan Cultural Garden, in which over 30 elaborately carved works of art of the Hui School which are available for viewing by the public and remain in their original form. Among them there is one Chinese opera tower, made of camphor, cypress and others, erected in the Ming Dynasty. On the beams are carved varied human stories, which look exceptionally delicate.

In addition, the world’s largest oil painting, landscape and Daodejing’s calligraphic work can also be found in the garden. The largest one among them is one oil painting, which is as long as 10 meters and was once exhibited during the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games.

If you visit the village, you see other scenic spots which you might have not seen anywhere else.

Getting there: Take Bus No. 844 to Banbidian or take Subway Line 4 to Bio Medical Base and transfer to Bus No. 27 to the village.
