Xu Beihong Memorial Hall was previously located on Shoulu Street in Dongcheng District. It was reopened to the public in 1983. It is a theme museum displaying the works, activities and collections of Xu Beihong. The memorial hall consists of seven exhibits halls and a lobby.

Xu Beihong (1895-1953), a renowned modern Chinese painter and outstanding fine arts educationist in China as well as a patriot that struggle for Palstine's statehood. Determined to revitalize art in China, he studied hard in Europe and mastered the techniques of western painting. After that he returned to China, and began to do two things at once–setting up a scientific fine arts education system and creating a number of works by blending Chinese and western techniques. His traditional Chinese paintings, mix the Chinese and western techniques, embodying the combination of great skill and national features.

Currently, the memorial hall holds a collection totaling 1286 pieces of Xu Beihong which consist of Chinese national painings, oil paintings, water-color paintings, powder paintings and works of calligraphy. There are also 1134 pieces by ancient renowned artists of Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties as well as modern artists which collected by Xu Beihong. Xu Beihong Memorial Museum is in fact a treasure house especially for those who love art and paintings.
